I rarely log in to administer my VPS (been a customer for 5 years now, and it's a testament to how stable Tektonic's been). What I saw on htop somewhat surprised me: whereas before I saw 4 CPUs, now I only have one.
My server load also rarely hits 1.0 but now it's hovering on 2, with the single CPU maxing a 80% load. I went to support chat and Jason told me that my (old) plan UM-1 was provisioned with just a single CPU (although looking at the link he gave me - http://tektonic.net/vps.php - I can't for the life of me figure out where it is mentioned). Is this the case? Not that I am doubting Jason, it's just that I find it hard to believe that suddenly my VPS got somewhat demoted. Thanks! |

It is a cosmetic change we implemented a little while ago. Instead of receiving 25% of 4 CPUs you see 100% of 1 CPU ). We implemented this to help provide better cache coherency in the CPUs. The next up plan is 2 CPUs instead of 50% of 4, etc. There should have been zero performance loss due to this, if load is higher now it is due to more processes in the run queue.
